Over the past 8 years that we have lived in North Carolina, there has been innumerable instances for us to take in the beauty of the landscape that this part of the country has to offer. From lush green mountains to turquoise blue water of the ocean paired with white sandy beaches.
We as a family are an avid lover of the outdoors! Be it hiking, or camping, we are always up on our toes for them… including the kids. And being the creative in the family, I am always the one seen with a camera snapping millions of pictures, making sure not to miss any ounce of the beauty surrounding us. These pictures have piled up over the years and have turned into a treasure of inspiration for my painting projects.
It is a shame that I have waited this long to turn this nature treasure into a memoir in my canvases. But better late than sorry!
I started by painting a scene I captured in the Blue Ridge Mountains during one of our hikes late last year, when Fall was almost at the brink of winter. It was the colors and shapes and subtle nuances of that picture in the midst of winter clouds that stuck with me, and was the driving factor for laying down the moment onto my canvas through my brushes and layers of paints. But most of all, it was the feeling that evoked when picturing this place over and over again. That is when I decided to create a collection of beautiful mountain landscape paintings that captured the feeling and essence of the place rather than the place itself. A scene that was an amalgamation of imagination and reality.
My hope is not just to paint a beautiful scenic spot, but to capture a perspective and a feeling of that spot. My hope is to bring a sense of peace and calm to a space through these paintings when hung up and displayed in their forever homes.
