Studio days have been quite busy as I prepared for the Holiday events. I had my first ever pop up art show in the beginning of November sponsored by The Shiloh Shop and Co. It was quite an experience, meeting lot of new folks and setting up and preparing for the show itself. A satisfied exhaustion following the show is just a start to describing the feeling itself.
And right after that, I dove into painting wood slice ornaments for the Holiday Shop, along with finishing up few other minis and commission pieces for Ann Guidry’s shows in November as well. But I am here today to talk more about the Holiday Shop in my website, which has been open for a few weeks this month, and will probably remain open until the Holidays are over.
Currently, I just have the wood slice ornaments with 10 different designs in there. But, I plan on adding few more items in the Holiday Shop that comprise of cute little, nifty gift boxes ready for you to gift someone dear to you or a fellow art lover this Holiday season.
But let’s talk more about the ornaments. Last year was the first time when I started exploring these round raw wood slices. They were fun to paint, especially when I primed the top with white chalk paint. The finishing result gave a rustic, chalky vibe to an art that could be displayed as an accessory, such as wine charms, tiered tray decor and ornaments for trees of course. This year, I took these wood slices to just another level, and finished them off with a raw edge silk ribbon to bring some elegance to the rustic look. I decided to do 10 different designs of only birds, flowers and reindeers, because this year my art journey has been all about these three subject categories (animals, birds and flowers). Et Voila!! The end product was a heirloom, one of a kind hand painted wood slice ornament that is sure to bring so much joy and classy elegance to your tree.
My awesome collectors aka. Studio Insiders swept up all of the first batch of ornaments. So, I released a second set few days back for those who were not able to grab one. I made multiples of them until of course I ran off of supplies (and that’s when I stopped ). I decided to leave just a few up just in case for those last minute shoppers.
